We Miss You Janie

It is now some days since Janie Hayes left after her productive one year stint as Communications Director with Story Workshop and we are already missing her overflowing energy in the way she cheerfully went about her work.

Janie Hayes joined Story Workshop as Communications Director on 3rd April, 2006. She(MA Radio-TV-Film, North-western University) brought with her experience as Program Director for the American Embassy in Cyprus and from her work in support of a variety of not-for-profit enterprises. She is such an experienced copy writer and has published articles in Runner’s World, Fodors Travel Guide, and insite Magazine. Janie was responsible for educational programming, marketing and communications, Greenlights’ Website and events.

During her one year stint with Story Workshop, Janie was responsible for making sure that the Story Workshop Website was redesigned as an attractive, easy to navigate and user friendly website and she made sure that it is frequently updated. Janie was also responsible for writing a proposal on PMTCT to UNICEF which has just been funded for the next 7 months of interventions by Story Workshop.

Currently, She is volunteering as a consultant for Clinton Hunter Development Initiative on a community mobilisation program around safe water and hygiene. She is also helping a local CBO with its fund raising campaign. Janie is great at fund raising. She raised $15,000 for Story Workshop even before she joined us. She says she misses colleagues at Story Workshop and riding her bike on the hills of Blantyre (currently she is living in Lilongwe which is very flat.)
