Story Workshop Goes Video

Since its inception, Story Workshop has endeavoured to indulge in media and communication work that it can produce with perfection. We therefore decided to concentrate on radio productions of different program formats. We believe we have set the pace and excelled in this area for a long time.

Our style is so unique that many that have copied us have lost their identity because the audience has always identified the style as Story Workshop’s. On content, our producers have treaded where many a producer have feared to tread. This success in radio has invited a lot of video enquiries from many organisations that wanted our expertise in communication work.

We now have decided to slowly venture into the video world. Our new Mwana Alirenji project has incorporated video productions. These will be educational video documentaries that will complement outreach activities. So far the section has started with just 2 people. Mike Kambalame, former Television Malawi producer and independent video consultant is the cameraman/producer/editor and Bennie Khanyizira as cameraman/producer.

This team is producing quite a number of Educational programmes on agriculture and food security that will be shown to farmers in 78 villages across Malawi where Story Workshop is working with farmers to try and sort out their farming problems. The documentaries will mainly carry helpful agricultural procedures like how farmers can control soil fertility loss due to soil erosion, manage land on slopes, make different kinds of manure, grafting and budding, and many more.

We are confident that we will make a mark on the Malawi video production map with our video productions and hopefully share our expertise with other development organisations and donor partners.
